Considering a fractional position - will this work?

I'm in marketing and it feels like the bottom has fallen out of the job market. I've been looking for nearly a year, had a few interviews but nothing has come through. I'm getting desperate.

A "fractional" position has come up in my sector, and it sounds great but its just not enough hours. Do these positions work? For the company or for the employees? How can you get it done in 2 days a week? Could I get two positions like this? Would that work?

Has anyone got any experience with this or words of wisdom? It's all hypothetical at this point anyway. Happy sunny Sunday.

I work 0.67 and works just fine.

Needs clear expectations between employer and staff member on how the practicalities work. Eg. Expectations of being contactable out of normal hours. How urgent stuff is covered.

Additional work not relevant to me, but if it is to you then get clear up front. There are often non compete clauses in contracts which could be an issue in your sector.

In my sector, fractional senior leadership is becoming very normal. Many people work 2 days for one company, 2 days for another, and pick up a bit of consulting work on the other day. Of course it doesn't always work brilliantly and the right amount of work isn't always there when you want it. But it tends to be well paid so the lean times can be got through.......
