Does anyone have any idea how an interview for admin in the nhs goes? Obviously I know it depends on the department but roughly what questions are asked? Are there any tasks?

Have you tried advance searching? There are a lot of threads on this topic.

Generally NHS admin interviews are pretty standard, you can expect to be asked questions about why you want the role, how your skills and experiences fit the job, experience of using any specific systems or software the team uses, knowledge of things like safeguarding, EDI, data protection, what you know about the trust and why you think you would be a good fit, along those lines. Likely some competency based questions based off the person spec (if you plug the PS into AI it will likely spit out a very accurate idea of these), plus maybe some scenario/what would you do if type questions. Tests are sometimes used but not always and they will usually tell you in advance if there will be a test.

Make sure you do some research based on the JD and PS, know what trust/team it is you are applying for (astounding how many people don't and think they're applying to work on a ward at a hospital when it's a district nursing team or vice versa), check their vision, values etc which will be found in their website. Look up any technical terms or acronyms used you are unfamiliar with and even if you don't have direct experience of say a specific software show you are aware what it is and what similar systems you have used or transferable skill you have. Prepare structured answers with examples using the STAR method, and have some good questions to ask them at the end. Good luck!

Not all have tasks to complete. Some might have a scenario based question. They generally always ask about information governance. Look up the trust values so you know them and have an answer on what they mean to you and how you might demonstrate them in the work place.

Our son applied for an NHS admin post, but was unsuccessful after interview. He requested feedback and he was helpfully advised to arrange a pre interview to the department he was applying to work in.

He subsequently applied for another NHS admin job, he arranged a visit to the department. There were about 70 applicants for 2 posts. Our son was sucessful this time, along with another who'd visited the department pre interview.

He has just managed to secure another NHS admin job on a higher band, he felt that visiting the department helped him enormously to make a good impression, especially as he felt that the interview hadn't gone as well.

Good luck.

Go over the job description with a fine tooth comb ensuring you have all avenues covered in prepping for interview.
Google examples of questions based on banding and role.

An admin role in something like patient liaison or managing pool of admin will be very different from user support in IT.

Ageee with other person regarding planning a visit to get idea of role & department. At the very least I would find out who the named contact is and arrange a phone call to discuss role & team dynamics.
Your skill set, experience and therefore interview responses/exampled would match different to a 9-5 role in a team of 4 than a 24/7 role with a pool of 30.
