Is this a legitimate job interview?

A friend of mine recently returned to Italy after living in the UK on a graduate visa, which unfortunately expired before she was able to secure a job. Since returning home, she’s been actively still applying for roles in the UK and recently shared that she landed an interview in London for a Marketing Manager position that offers a three-year visa sponsorship.

She doesn't have prior marketing experience, so I was a bit surprised by the opportunity, but I’m listed as a professional reference for her and will do what I can to support her.

She’s since flown back to London for the interview, and some of the details she shared raised a few red flags for me. The interview invitation was sent to a group of twelve candidates who were CC'd in, who will all be interviewed together. Those shortlisted will be asked to complete a project the following day, with final decisions shared immediately after.

This process is quite unfamiliar to me, as I work in a completely different industry. Is this type of group interview and quick turnaround typical for a role at this level, especially one that includes visa sponsorship?

I’m a bit concerned she may be walking into something less legitimate!

What kind of company? Are they long-established, with a website, LinkedIn presence etc? Apart from anything else, the company should never have shared peoples' email addresses!

Starting the process with a GDPR breech doesn't look good.

Group, project-based interviews seem to be common in commission-based jobs with high turnover. But the visa sponsorship seems odd in that context.

I'd be very suspicious.
