21hours over 3 or 4 days?

I have a primary age kid and pre-schooler and have been working 3 days a week for the past year, I have to revise/re-do my contract for the year ahead.
From summer both my kids will be in primary, so should I continue with the 3 days at work and I’m off 2 days to do house chores and relax, or spread my hours over 4 days during school time, and have 1 day off.

I work from home and the way I meet my hours currently is by working 6am to 8am, then 09:20 to 14:30, this is not too easy most days but somehow works. I would probably meet my hours easier over 4 days but working 3 days and not having to think about turning on the laptop for 4 days is great too.

I'd do 3 days if you don't mind the 6-8am slot.

I’d opt for less working days.

I used to do those hours. In term time I did them over 4 days (with no lunch break as I was only working 5 hrs 15 mins, and it helped to compress the hours). During the school holidays I did 3 x7 hours (with half an hour for lunch).

How was your contract worded, did it specifically mention this, or was it for 4 days and during holidays you compressed the 4 days into 3 with a day off in lieu? Thanks

It was in my contract. I no longer work for that employer so no longer have the contract to refer to. I would meet with my boss at the start of the school year (she was also a working mum) and work out which weeks were a 3 or 4 day week.

Thank you, my team has mostly 5days a week contracts with no variety, so feel a bit odd asking.

I was in exactly this situation.
I did 21 hours over 3 days until my youngest started school then I spread over 4 days.
Was able to do all drop offs and pick ups and still had a day to myself.
The mornings were so much easier when we all left for school at 8.40 rather than an 8am nursery/breakfast club drop off

I would do short days so 4 × 5hr 15 mins - 9.15 till 2.30 to cut out the early morning rush.
