Enhanced DBS - question

Hope someone can help me with this.
I was offered a role which required enhanced dbs to be carried out (first time I’m getting one done)
I have done lots of reading and apparently stage 3 and 4 can’t be done simultaneously, however this is what my application progress is looking like today. Is this normal?
I’m meant to be starting my new role in next couple of weeks and I’m worried it won’t be back by then 😕

Should I reach out to my new employer and ask them about what happens if it's not back by my start date?

DBS tend to take longer if your name is more commonly found e.g.Jane Smith
Others don’t tend to take that long. Is it a “notifiable profession?”
Maybe contact them via email if it isn’t back in a week.

In my experience checks can take anything from a few days to many weeks. It can depend on a variety of factors but often get stuck at the local police force (LPF) stage - some forces are quicker than others.

Definitely worth asking your future employer what would happen if it’s not back, they may be happy with a risk assessment in the absence of a DBS, especially as the first few days/weeks could be taken up with inductions and training anyway.

Thank you, I have a foreigners surname so it's likley there are no many of me in the area. Since moving to the UK in 2016 (I was 19) I have only resided in 4 places all within the same council. I'm hoping it goes smoothly from here!

Yes, I have read that. I had a look at my council's website and it says it can take anything from 4 weeks to 60 days, shocking!

I will ask them, I will be working within one of their overhead departments so I'm hoping we can do something so I can start on time!
