Returning to the law after a very long break: housing law

A bit of background. My PQE was barely 2 years before I went into legal publishing, and I worked there for most of my working career. The legal journal I edited doesn't exist anymore. I have very much kept in touch with my specialisms, and get asked to give talks occasionally.
I am on the roll, and have recently started volunteering at a legal advice centre. One of my areas is housing law and it's very much in demand there. And, I'm really enjoying it. I know I need to get up to speed with stuff but how to do I make a pivot and go back to this type of job, so I can get paid for it.
In an ideal world I'd like to set up on my own but not sure I can do that.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you considered the Government Legal Department? That includes MHCLG. Even if you're not placed there first, I understand it's possible to move internally.

Apply to private practice we are crying out for housing lawyers, I am recruiting at the moment and would absolutely interview someone who had been working in a related field for a period

Thanks both. @WorriedRelative- thanks that’s encouraging. I’m just finding every job ad is asking for experience in the area and I can’t really claim to have that. Can I message you?
