So found out yesterday I'm being made redundant from my job as a project coordinator. My career thus far has been predominantly admin based jobs.

I'm in a position now where if I wanted I could go to college /uni to retrain as my husband has a good job and is very supportive.

My only problem is I don't know what I want to do, I wouldn't be able to do anything too physically demanding as I have a long term health condition.

I thought of teaching but the concensus is that would be a mad idea as no work life balance, I also thought of counselling but again people have said it's not worth the cost of the training and it's not guaranteed work.

I was thinking something in the caring sector but I'm open to ideas. I'm really struggling to come up, everything I think of seems to have potential barriers.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

I think it depends on what you want your day to day to look like. Both teaching and caring are people jobs, out in the community working with people. So I’m assuming this is the type of thing you’re looking for? You haven’t mentioned money so I’m also assuming it’s not a big factor? but then you did mention possibly studying for a qualification which could indicate you want a ‘professional’ job. If money isn’t important and you like working with people, you could become a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Practitioner and dip your toe in education to see if you want to teach. If you already have a degree you could look to do an extra qualification and become a physiotherapist or occupational therapist which might work well for you if you have your own health condition. You could be a speech and language therapist?

if I’m wrong and working in the community isn’t for you then I would learn to code and become a software engineer. Lots of lovely money out there and good job opportunities working from home. Good luck!
