I've trained as a GP now and completed my full GP training. I wanted to get my trainer something but have no clue what to get, nothing gimmicky and she doesn't drink coffee/teas so no mugs/coasters.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Do you know anything about what she likes, or her hobbies? If so, maybe something related to that - eg a cook book or a book of bike tracks/footpaths? Something gardening related? If not, I would probably keep it simple and classic -a carefully chosen card and some flowers and/or chocolates if it was from just me. If there were other people chipping in, maybe a voucher for a shop or experience inside the card.

Nice scarf or hair accessory (depending on hair style)

Moonpig / Etsy may give inspiration.

Debenhams online / Very may also do gift sets. Like mini beauty products in what could be a keep sake tin.

A card for her portfolio/ or what ever doctors do. Saying how much she helped you etc. that will be more valued than any gift.

Some of the things our trainees bought the trainers.
Gin/whisky/wine😁
Voucher for afternoon tea
Or dinner.

But none of them expect anything. But a card is nice for our appraisal.

I worked in a training practice. Was there as a partner for 29 years so got through a lot of trainees!! I wasn't a trainer myself as I managed the business side of things.

But I loved getting that trainee as a rabbits in the headlights young doctor and helping guide them through to be competent GPs. Not that the knowledge wasn't there but GP is a totally different specialty to hospital medicine.

I'm still in touch with several of our former trainees and would always tell them when they left that our door was always open for them if they needed us for advice or support after they left.

In my latter years 4 of the partners and 2 of the salaried GPs were former trainees.

Hope you have a good career. Enjoy it and thanks for thinking about your trainers!
