I work in the NHS, have done for years and I'm now at B7 level in my team, with good, flexible part time hours which is great for my young DC.
I'm SO unhappy. Constant cuts. Constantly being asked to change ways of working to be more efficient. New targets and a focus on increased productivity is making staff work to the ground and they are dropping like flies off sick. Tatty equipment isn't replaced, and anything that's condemned we just have to do without. People that leave aren't being replaced. Now it looks like some of the policies are changing re emergency leave (and probably others to follow), meaning one of the things making me value my job and feel secure is now likely on the way out. I'm so stressed, and disheartened.
I'm seriously considering going private, but is the grass greener?
I have small children so I really value the flexibility and part time hours I have, and the fact my leadership position means I can work smarter not harder re: pay. Going private would mean a pay cut. But I don't know how much more I can take. Every day there is some other cut or some other thing we're being asked to do to save money, and I have absolutely no job satisfaction as the patients don't get anywhere near the care they need.
Anyone moved to the private sector and regretted it? Would it be stupid given the flexibility and security I get, or would I be so much happier in a place with no red tape?
Any experiences welcome!
