So I really need to change career. I’ve always been interested in a mortgage advisor role. Does anyone know how I go about training?

I know someone who has just qualified to do this - exams are involved - but they were already a financial adviser.

Hope you don’t mind me placemarking as I’d also be interested in this career. Would be helpful to know realistic salary estimates too if anyone is able to share? (Sorry to jump on your thread with extra questions too OP) : )

You could either look for trainee mortgage adviser roles that aren't asking for experience - i.e. they'll put you through the qualifications - or you can do the qualifications (the most popular one is CeMAP) yourself and then apply for trainee roles that are looking for someone newly-qualified.

You can do CeMAP pretty easily by learning yourself at home and then you book the multiple-choice exams at the places where you do the driving theory test!

It’s not difficult to train but be aware that being a mortgage adviser is more of a sales job than an advice job, and often cones with very high pressure to make sales.
