Ill health pay off

My partner is likely to be retired on ill health grounds from work. His health issues were caused by an injury at work but he can’t pursue it as he didn’t report the accident at the time as the management threatened people who reported accidents as it looked bad on the figures. They also refuse to give an alternative role in the office even though he has a registered disability - office roles are saved for favourites. How much could he be paid out for 25+ years service?

If you retire on ill health grounds you should be entitled to your full unreduced pension with any accrued benefits like a tax free lump sum. He’d have to look at the terms of his pension scheme provider.

He may be entitled to get his pension early, but that will be dependent on the rules of his pension scheme. Usually you would have to submit medical evidence to the pension provider saying you are permanently unfit for work.
So he needs to check his pension scheme and speak to his HR dept
