Career coach recommendations

My DH (53) was made redundant along with many of his colleagues last summer and is still out of work. He's done some courses to up skill, has applied for numerous jobs including contracts but hasn't had a single interview although we are south East based and within commuting distance of several cities including London. We've eeked out his redundancy but it will run out in a few months and although we can manage on my wage it will be tight (we are supporting DC at uni and still have a sizeable mortgage) and in the current climate living on one income feels very precarious.
I have suggested a career coach but he hasn't found anyone. Can anyone recommend someone who is good with older workers in an IT setting to help with CV, interview confidence when he gets there and to help him look at transferrable skills?

My company signed me up with a company called LHH. Did your husband seem job seekers allowance? It is not a lot but helps

Hello, I’m also a career coach and I just wanted to say your husband’s situation is sadly very common at the moment, especially for people in IT and other sectors where redundancy has hit hard.

I work with clients who are navigating career transitions, particularly later in life, and I always start with strengths-based work and mindset support, then move into practical help with CVs, transferable skills, and confidence for interviews (and even before that, confidence just to apply again). For many people, it’s not just about skills, it’s also about being seen, recognised, and rebuilding belief in their own value.

Happy to have a no-pressure chat if that would be useful. Just drop me a DM.

Wishing you both lots of strength. It’s a tough time, but you’re clearly being incredibly thoughtful and supportive.

Thanks so much for replying - in a weird way it's helping to know he's not alone and it's not anything he is or isn't doing. I'm happy to support us while he retrains if that's something that's possible, but not for an indefinite cycle of not getting anywhere. He isn't claiming job seekers yet but maybe he should be!
