How do I process?

I was being bullied in my last job. I wanted to put a grievance in but so clear that this person was brought in to reduce headcount in the dept and was being supported by the leadership team. Think they wanted me to leave by own accord by basically criticising everything I did and undermining my position in the company. I was eventually made redundant. I thrust myself into job hunting and have a new job. I have some weeks till I start but I’m very angry at how I was treated. I’ve never had an experience like it! I now have some time and not sure what to do with myself. I’m in the country and DH needs the car for work. My friends all live abroad and while I am trying to sort through stuff I can’t do anything with it. How do I process and move on? Had lovely messages from the team but the contact is becoming less as they move on. I’m in a lucky position but feel a bit lost!

Well done finding your new job! Hopefully it will be much better and you’ll end up happy at how it all worked out. I had much the same, a few years back, with no recourse to any kind of retribution. I just had to believe I was better than them, stronger for it and keep my head high.

can you find a new hobby to try on the next few weeks? Volunteer somewhere? Something that gives you pleasure. Good luck, you’ll be ok! 🤟

I'm sorry about your last job. There is nothing worse than a toxic work environment. Congrats on the new job. How will you get to work if DH has the car, or will you be WFH? Is there no public transport to get to the nearest town?

Here are just some ideas I'd do if I had some weeks off:
-Go through each kitchen cupboard and clear out very old food, re-arrange and re-organise
-As above for a deep freeze if applicable
-Clear wardrobes and bedrooms of additional things you don't use and either throw, donate to charity or put on next door/market place
-Re-paint your bedroom, bathrooms, lounge
-Each week, get a bus/train somewhere different. Either a nearby town or a larger city somewhere, but visit the local museum/s, park, have a coffee etc
-Do online questionnaires for money. Its not alot, but I sometimes do this when watching TV.
-Learn a new craft. Quilting, crochet, knitting
-Do some fitness. Walking, online yoga or chair yoga, pilates
-Pick a new cuisine each week- Somali, Cambodian, Sri Lankan or buy a new vegetable and then find a recipe to use it in
-Read a book
-Duolingo
-Research your next holiday destination
-Start off vegetable seeds and prep garden beds
-free mahjong online
-If you can get to your local town, there are often daytime activity things, chess, cards, luncheon clubs, WI, gardening group, walking clubs, swimming club etc

TBH in a similar situation I was so angry about it (the way they'd treated me/forced me into quitting) it took me several years to calm down. I was angry at myself too for being so wet, if only I wasn't a crier and could have been one of those quite tough individuals who could have said if you're wanting rid you need to pay me off.

on balance I think it's more I was angry at myself but it took me a while to work that out and move on.

I think all you can do is learn your lessons from it and move on, hopefully much wiser if you're ever needing to deal with a hatchet man/woman again...
