Negative colleagues

Every year we have an annual staff away day. The whole organisation goes off site to plan the year ahead. The Chief Exec is unprofessional and starts getting angry criticising political parties. He was slating Trump and the Tories and said Labour are really good.

What I don’t get is we have a Code of Conduct where you are not to discuss political views as it could be viewed as bad publicity for the company if someone does not agree.

Another colleague was angry because people were in a public forum complaining about immigration and how they have waited for over 5 years on a waiting list. She said they are racist. I had a look myself and there was no racism. I don’t understand why people can’t be allowed to have a view.

I left my feedback as a survey was sent after the event and said I found it unprofessional for people to be getting angry about opposing political views. I don’t come to work to be surrounded by negative people trying to brainwash people into their way of thinking. We are all entitled to our views and are supposed to be focusing on the job.

The former Chief Exec was very professional and even in economic crises in the past they never expressed their political views and kept it neutral. I miss that inspiring leadership, he was always so positive about the organisation. Since the new the new Chief Exec took over the customers don’t like him and they respected the former one.
