Small Business accounts once a month - not sure how much to charge

I do my partners accounts, it's fairly basic I also do his tax return. A small local business has approached me to do similar (not the tax return as they have accountant). Using quick books, invoicing, expenses etc. and only once per month.

I am unsure of what to charge, I thought an hourly rate of around £15, does that seem fair? To confirm I do not have any qualifications, it's purely experience only (i worked in an office for over 30 years and picked up all sorts of skills).

Thanks

Are they putting you through PAYE?

I'm self employed, so will put it through on my tax return

I'm assuming you want to be self-employed with this business, you need to be charging somewhere between £25-£35/hour. I'm not sure if £15/hour is even minimum wage when you account for NI payments and holiday. Value yourself more.

Yes I do want to be SE. It won't be many hours but I think you are right, I need to charge more. I am just trying to find out if others do similar roles and what they think a fair figure is

If they use a local accounting firm, they will charge £40-£50/hour. An independent will charge around £35hr. Google rates for your local area. Enquire on behalf of your partner's business about their rates.

I pay £100 a month for this service as a contractor. On contractor forums that’s pretty standard but it does depend on how small the business is.

Definitely at least £25/hour.

£15/hour is far too low, regardless of location. I'd expect £25/hr+ in this day and age. I used to pay £10 an hour PAYE in 2000!

How many hours? Are you expected to chase up paperwork (my big hate) eg missing invoices, expenses forms that haven't been submitted etc. Will you be expected to chase up non payment (hate that even more).

£25 per hour minimum.

You also need to make sure to have all paperwork in place - insurance? AML registration?
