Im on Mat leave after having DD2, but the thought of going back to my old job leaves me sick to my stomach, as my boss was so horrible. I have applied for a job at the childrens centre and have an interview! Its only 18 hours a week, I can choose how to spread the hours and term time only. Im really nervous. I havent had an interview in years, and i know im over qualified, but really want the job. Its just want I need and want. Help!!

Don't focus on the fact that you are "over qualified" but work out exactly what you have to offer that makes you "perfectly qualified". Even if your previous work is not directly related to this job I'm sure you can think of skills and experience that you gained that will be relevant. Make a short list of these things and have it to hand just before the interview so that as you go in your mind is focused on these issues. You want them to realise how lucky they would be to get you!

And if they ask you a question that you don't quite understand ask them to repeat it. Don't be in a hurry to answer - take time to think.

Good luck.

I applied for my current job whilst on maternity leave as same situation so good luck.

Plan before the interview, look at the job description and under the job tasks / responsibilities they will probably ask you a question for each one. Then work out an example for how you have experience of doing that task / responsibility. I took a list into the job interview with all my examples which helped to remind me during the interview. Also do some research into the children's centre, this always helps as it shows you are really interested in the job and use this info to ask them questions.

If you don't know the answer to a question or can't think of an example ask if you can answer that question at the end.
Hope that helps. Take a deep breath before you go into the interview and think how lucky they are to have you.
