Hi was really just looking for advice, i currently work in a care home and was a Care Assistant for 10 years, i then moved to the housekeeping dept due to splitting with my ex and my children were younger and the hours suited better.

Anyway 7 years later im still in housekeeping but hours were to get cut and possible redundancies so i said i would got back into care.

I have now been offered a senior care assistant role which is 3 x 12 hour shifts, it always been what i wanted (to get back into care) but now its here im unsure. I will have 4 weeks training and the 3 months probation as a 'new start'.

I also have an interview for a houskeeping role next week but to be honest i don't enjoy housekeeping i havent for a while and want something a bit more challenging, but keep doubting myself plus i have a work colleague who is talking me out of the care role and just being totally negative and parts of me think shes right.

My work place has kinda turned toxic the last few years especially so would like to break away from it but do i go to the possible new housekeeping role and regret it.

I also did. Medical Admin course last year but have totally given up on that.

Any advice ?

I would take the senior care worker role. Then use this job title as a stepping stone to get into Local authority or NHS
re-ablement worker roles, where you’ll have a better chance of a career pathway.
That experience combined with your medical admin course could lead you into to an organiser/hospital discharge care co-ordinator role.

I agree with OP. Take the senior position to get a leg up the ladder within the NHS.
