Retail - no plans to change
It suits me, is easy, i have zero take home work
I clock in, do my hours and clock off and go home. It gives me good work/life balance

Never had a desire for some stressful career

I started off in hospitality, stayed in that for 5 years but when I had kids the unsociable hours didn’t suit so I worked in childcare for 16 years. I was then a sahp for a few years and now I work in a library.

Bizarrelly , the unsociable hours of hospitality worked for us. It meant we had no childcare bills as I was at home during the day then 2/3 evenings a week I went to work in a bar/restaurant and dh was at home then to have the children.

Never done the same job twice.
Sales assistant in a newsagent.
Manager of a gift shop.
Guest experience host at Madame Tussauds.
Court Usher.
Court clerk.
Deckchair Attendant.
Seafront Supervisor.
Painter and Decorator.
Window cleaner.
Store Cleaner.
Stockroom person for a haberdashery store.
Cash Officer for haberdashery store.
Furnishing floor assistant for haberdashery store.
Furnishing Service manager for haberdashery store.
Now I own my business as a pen turner and artist.

Basically I do whatever job interests me and fits with my lifestyle at the time. If it looks interesting I'll give it a go.

Life's too short to be in a job you hate.

Saturday job (teen) plus paper round
Wait service (uni)
Customer service in industry 1
Customer service in industry 2
Technical roles x2 in industry 2
Charity sector roles x 2 (elderly, children)
Education sector - same role different employers x5, then step up roles x 2.

Spent double the time in education than industry 1 & 2 combined

I've worked in the same place for 17 years now, doing different positions. My last change was 2 years ago.

Currently looking at leaving all together for pastures new! Grass is never greener but I've had enough! I want more and they can't offer it to me. Yet I'm watching people not doing their jobs properly and getting away with it and it is just causing issue after issue!

I love it but I work part time. Tbh I would get bored doing it 5 days a week. It’s quite repetitive particularly I think because it’s a small library but it is also lovely, especially the customers they are fab . I am also a prolific reader so can order as many books as I want to read. Pays rubbish it’s £1 above minimum wage but tbf it’s reasonable for what it entails it’s very stress free.

Twice.

First time was a physical job in a warehouse which I was to slow in it to even receive a pay rise. The HR department was like we really think you should make use of that phone manner.

Second time was to go into care (lasted just under a year) I had thought about it again but lord knows how people do it in mid-life. Every respect for them.

For now I’m still happy and a sense of content in the job I once thought I hated.
