I am considering training as a speech and language therapist.
I have a degree in education related subject which would mean I could do a 2 year course.

anyone already in this role? What does the day to day look like? Do you like the job? Anything in particular I should be considering?

thanks

I would say go for it! It is one of the better AHP disciplines for career progression and can be a varied role as it seems you can move from peads to adults, to neuro etc easier than you can in my discipline where it is more limited to the one field you have worked in unless you want to drop a band. All the SaLTs I have worked with seem to enjoy their job and have a good work-life balance. The studying is hard and it is more than advising around speech, there is swallow, language formulation etc
good luck 😊

Hi OP, I was a speech and language therapist for a long time. I worked in the NHS, mostly worked with children under 5 in the community. SLTs work with loads of different types of people and in different settings and the job can vary massively

I'm interested in why you think SLT might be a good option for you
