failing GCSEs in Haringey - where to now?

My cleaner's daughter is failing all her GCSE's it seems - not passing even Foundation maths it seems. What happens to these kids - doesn't sound like school is helpful at all, and I have little knowledge of British system. Is she even allowed to leave school at 16? Where can she look for work/ traineeship? She's in Haringey / Islington area and sounding very depressed - as I would be if Im not seeing any future. Her mother is clearly not able to help - didn't go to school here, English not very good. Anyone any idea where I can refer them for help?

It’s expected that students will be in education or training until 18.

the local FE college will have lots and lots of
Courses available. Usually the way it works is that they offer (for example) catering at level 1,2 and 3. If you pass maths and English you start at level 2, if you don’t you start at level 1 and also do classes in maths and English so you can resit.

you can then move up to level 2 catering the next year.

look at the local college.

Look at CANDI (Camden and Islington) College and see if she can do retakes there along with something like Health and Social Care. I support a Syrian refugee family and their eldest was able to start at our local further education college with grade 2s in English and maths.

It looks like Candi has been merged with some other FE colleges and there is a huge range of courses on offer:

My DD has no GCSE passes. Started at a level 1 course, now doing a level 2.

As suggested above, there should be options to retake maths/English and study vocational courses that could help her. Wishing her the best of luck.
