Interview tips for modern apprentice early years practitioner

My dd left uni a year ago as the course wasn’t what she thought it would be, so decided she’d just like to get a job instead and is interested in childcare.
She’s had a few part time unrelated jobs here and there but nothing stable and she’s found getting a job of any kind much more difficult that she thought it would be.
She now has an interview for an early years practitioner modern apprentice position at a school nursery which she would absolutely love to get. It feels like the best of both worlds for her (a job and qualification in what she’d like to do).
Are there any tips or advice you’d give for her interview that could make her stand out or impress the panel?

Early years and TA Apprenticeship assessor here.
My advice would be to read up on the schools mission statement, ethos and ofsted report, so that she seems both interested and knowledgeable about the school in interview.
Research the EYFS curriculum and safeguarding procedures.
Above all be warm, open and friendly. Kindness and patience is so important in this industry.
Good luck to your daughter.

I worked as an early years practitioner about ten years ago. I remember at interview i was taken into the nursery and observed interacting with the children. (I wasn’t expected to provide an activity more follow child initiated play) after the observation I was asked what I had noticed about the displays in the room. (Contrasting colour, child level. Key language etc) in advance I would look at their safeguarding, inclusion and Sen policies. Read up on their ethos and have a good read through ages and stages of eyfs. I can’t remember what questions I had, definitely a safeguarding and one on planning activities I think.

Thank you both - this is very helpful. I will pass onto my dd.
