Career change from AR position

I have been working in accounts receivable for a large multinational for 10 years. I am looking to move in to something different for a number of reasons but I cannot afford much of a pay cut. Can anyone make any suggestions of roles paying around 60k which would put my skills to good use?

One of the main reasons for leaving is that clients are making increasing demands and adding layers of bureaucracy to the payments process. I am also pretty much at the top of the pay scale here and I am looking for something where I will be able to keep moving up and increasing salary.

Main skills are relationship building and communication with clients, good with numbers and excel.

Is your salary 60k?
Which part of the country are you in?
Do you want to remain in accounting?

Is there a large wider finance team in your location? Your best bet may be to look for a move within finance there that offers progression. Also consider doing some training in PowerBI, it won’t be much of a leap from Excel hopefully and is very much the direction finance teams are heading in.

If you like the relationship side of finance then something like a finance business partnering role might be a possibility - you will need to get a good understanding of the commercial side of the business potentially depending on what area you are in.

Look for opportunities for secondments or internal vacancies in other parts of finance - one advantage of large businesses is there are often lots of vacancies and hiring internally is always preferable. You also stand a good chance of keeping/increasing your salary that way. For general finance roles pay is often better at the big places compared to smaller companies. Consider as well that you may need to make a sideways move first to get on a track with more scope for progression.

Given your comments about bureaucracy though you need to consider how much will change if you stay in the same organisation. Is some of this coming from changes in regulations, standards, processes etc internally?

My salary is 60k. I wouldn't expect more from a move but also couldn't take much of a step down.
Don't necessarily want to stay in accounting but have no idea what to do instead. My business offers sales positions and admin at my location which I am not particularly interested in.

The bureaucracy I mention comes from client preferences rather than legislation or internally procedures. Basically claims says you have to do X Y Z before the invoice is paid rather then just paying on presentation of a valid invoice and proof of delivery as used to be the case.

I don’t know where about in the country you are but wow 60k for AR. That’s a very well paid position.
Good suggestion re power bi training although I suspect these roles are quite niche.

I completely understand the bureaucracy. In many cases it feels like hurdles to delay payment.

I will look in to Bi Power training.
60k because I in management but I will admit that I am definitely paid above market rate. It also makes an internal move to a different department difficult as each team has their budgets and they don't want to pay me.

Previously I worked in recruitment and would consider going back to that Or possibly even diversifying in to other areas of HR but I have always had the impression that HR is very competitive and would probably require a masters which I do not want to do.

That's a high salary. Whereabouts roughly are you based?
