New job didn’t work out as expected - help with reply

Hi,

Would really appreciate help with how to respond.

I spoken directly face to face to the new job I left day 2 when it became apparent things weren’t great and I left a few minutes later with one of the supervisors aware picking up my coat and bag before exiting the building as someone would do if they are fired. I do take responsibility that I should have thought more and asked more questions or massively asked wrong ones during the recruitment.

I have even checked the job advert again and one element that gave me cause for concern/point of argument was there.

Just a second supervisor keeps contacting me in what feels like a sales push (I had heard them out when they first called) and trying to scare me about unemployment. I asked my previous employer for my old job back and been successful as I didn’t burn bridges during the leaving stages and have acted so quickly on asking if a return was possible they’ve been able to reverse the leaver process.

I should add the new company hold a contract with my previous employer and the new job recruited me and another person so I feel slightly less guilty I’ve wasted anyone’s time.

The latest communication from the supervisor chasing was an email asking if I still accept the role? Would you respond back as minimal as possible? Re-iterate again what I said on the day? Tell them I’m going back to old job - I would have thought they could find this out themselves if they really wish to.

Thank you.

Hi X thanks so much for contacting me I appreciate your time during xyz. Unfortunately there won’t be an opportunity for me to continue any further due to personal reasons. I hope to continue positive relations in partnership with x contract / company going forward and wish the company the best for the future.

what was so alarming that you had to leave so suddenly?

Thank you 🙏 that sounds way better then don’t worry about me.

I decided not to stick it out due to car parking being a tripple parking nightmare, the notice went from one month to one week, they want everyone in the work place but the team I encountered were hybrid remote so I left quite confused and wouldn’t want to be in a position of resentment, very hostile environment like I’d walked into something a lot of people had been tuped from one organisation to another it seemed. Policies from the dark ages. The job advert said inbound calls but then it came out they had a specific team working from home answering those and it seemed dead quiet the first day I was doing things designed for day 2.
Then there was a start time of 7am when they wanted to take me out on the road which wasn’t mentioned in advance but which made it clear I’m not local to the employers base.
Definitely learnt a lesson. I started having second thoughts before the first day and should have been more on the ball when the contract came through with an error and I got asked if I had children in the first interview which quickly got caviated with we employ men and women of all ages here, but in hindsight I think I should have took the question as we’ll want you to do a lot of hours. I definitely let myself down and didn’t want to be in a position of trying to get another job elsewhere so soon. In my mind I’d have been wasting even more of their time and it may have got harder down the line to do.
