Hey guys, I am on my own with no family near by to help.
I am on universal credit, now my youngest has turned 3 I am expected to work.
Questions ..what can I do with two children? I am the main carer who drops off and picks up,I'm thinking holidays too ? No help with school holidays.
Help..I know after speaking to different people I could look at training and wouldn't be expecting to work...but in what ? I need somthing flexible..I thought dog walking but I wouldn't be able to turn clients down because my kids are at home.. there always seems to be a barrier each job idea I come up with...what so single mums do for work ??. Help!!

You can get up to 85% back of childcare costs on universal credit. I earn 30k+ a year and still get 85% back as a single parent.

Put the kids in before and after school club, or nursery. Claim back costs from UC.

Holidays working parents use holiday clubs. Again you claim the cost back from UC.

Hope that helps you.

I don't have family either and my kids Dad doesn't see them, so I'm on my own too and this is what I do and other single parents I know.

There are lots of jobs out there, go for something part time to start with to get yourself back into it.

There are lots of childcare options which is what all the other working parents use.

Did you have a job before you had kids? When did you give up work? Can you go back into a similar industry?

I was in the same situation as you, I got a job as a housekeeper in a chain hotel which fit with school hours and I didn't work weekends. I used holiday clubs in the holidays alongside annual leave.

I got promoted in the company and worked there for 7 years, then I was able to use my experience to get an office job now they are older.
It seems impossible now and it's stressful but you'll find something. Use the support of your work coach.
