Interview feelings... very anxious

Hello everyone,

I have an interview this morning and it was in 2 parts - a panel interview and a task.

The interview I felt went really well however, one of the tasks I struggled with and could only partially complete it.

I just don't know what to think/feel and I'm not sure how much they weight the tasks.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Tia xx

Ah it’s so hard looking back on an interview and worrying about how it went when it’s out of your control.

I know with some interview tasks it’s not really about whether you can complete it in a short time in the pressure of an interview situation - it’s just about getting a feel for how you work and how you would approach the problem. It’s highly likely other people have also not finished the task.

Can you share anything about the type of role and the type of task you did?

It's for a PA to the Senior Leadership Team at a secondary school.

The task was firstly proof reading a letter; which was absolutely fine.

The second task was an excel spreadsheet of students that have been late for the week, including names, which period it was, class and time.

My role was to summarise the data in another excel spreadsheet so it's easy for the SLT to view and has the data included.

I first started doing it but once finished I realised I didn't like it and started doing it in another format (which is what I should have done in the first place) but didn't get it finished....

I should also mention, the data was given over 5 separate tabs on excel, which made it even harder.

And I believe it's just me and another candidate.

However my interview went surprisingly well - the first question I answered, they actually said 'well we don't need to ask you the question we had planned next as you've just covered it' 😂 so that is a positive, right?

Hurrah! Well done!

Thank you - I'm so happy! I've been rejected from 2 jobs before this so it's feels so nice to finally be successful! They say 3rd times a charm!
