Being performance managed and getting a new job

Hello

My manager is setting unrealistic targets, then states I’m the reason she is failing. I have no interest in fighting for the job!

My fear is looking for a new job, whilst working! I can’t afford to just leave.

How do people attend interviews? I can’t pull a sickie or takes loads of random half day holidays! Also, what if no one wants me after attending interviews. I might run out of holidays.

How is everyone finding the job market at the moment?

Thank you

Lots of first round interviews are online - if so, ask for a lunchtime slot on a day that you work from home (if you wfh)
Otherwise, first thing in the morning or the last slot of the day (could you find a quiet cafe near your work place if you don't wfh - check the signal/wifi quality in advance, too)

For face-to-face interviews - taking some time off may be unavoidable but, again, could you try for a slot at either end of the day or take a slightly longer lunch?

(I've interviewed people outside normal office hours because not everyone can make a "9-5" slot.)

Good luck with your job search.

Dentist appointments
Broken washing machine and need to wait I for plumber
Dropping car off at garage

A long while ago I was asked for an assessment centre. I stood outside the offices calling in sick to my current employer as it was too short notice to get leave.

Most people interviewing for jobs have jobs that they need to organise around. First discussion is usually with a recruiter, usually brief, and easily scheduled around break time where I would go for a long walk. First round are usually by phone or online, so minimal time out and flexible where you conduct it. After that it is more serious and that is where you use excuses.

in general the job market isn’t great right now, but it will be very industry dependent. Even in a major recession there is some hiring, so your chances have more to do with your industry and role than anything else.

Hi I was being performance managed and it was clearly due to a personality clash between me and my manager. Ended up getting to capability meeting but my manager had seriously gone AWOL on policy so didn’t have an outcome. Fast forward a few weeks and I’ve just been made redundant! On Garden leave as we speak. I am relieved as my manager was giving unrealistic targets as well and it was a serious MF when trying to get your head in the game for jobs. At least now I’ll have the mind set to focus on job hunting solely. I have an interview next week!!!

Lottie0O99 sorry you are in this situation.
Do you know what has happened to cause this situation at work before you take issues into another workplace.
I say this as an employee who had a horrible work situation, moved elsewhere and something similar is trickling in there.
I am awaiting an ADHD assessment.
