A question about redundancy when you claim state pension.

I love my job and had no intention of leaving for a few years. I got my state pension last year - for various reasons I didn’t defer it and so know that I get taxed more for the 3 days I work. Work is not just about the money it’s about the colleagues I work with and knowing I do a good job for my clients.
it looks like we are being taken over by another company and the specific role I do is very much done differently ( and not so beneficial for clients - more paperwork rather than face to face) rather than just leave I wonder if I would be eligible for redundancy - there will definitely be a restructure.
some colleagues say I wouldn’t be eligible but surely that’s discrimination on age as I would have liked to stay for another few years .

Statutory redundancy compensation is still payable. No upper age limit. That was removed a long time ago.

Yes, you can be eligible for redundancy now that the compulsory retirement age has been abolished. Before that, you had to leave at the age of 65 (or whatever) so sometimes it was cheaper to let someone work until that age rather than pay them redundancy, especially if they had worked there for a long time.

I know someone that happened to - she was rather miffed that she wasn't made redundant.

Thank you all. I know that I am at the top of my pay scale so they may be happy to let me go - I’d rather stay but the job I love will change so much.
thanks again - I read conflicting advice x
