New employer HR doesn't seem to want to issue unconditional offer letter & agree start date?

I work in a Trust and got offered a new role still in the NHS but in a different part of the org. I interviewed on 18th Dec, offered verbally 19th Dec. Conditional offer letter sent 17th January. Told my trust then I was leaving (8 weeks notice period required) and I'd confirm actual date when unconditional came through as I do not want a break in service. Agreed a provisional start date of 17th March with hiring manager but said I have to give the trust 4 weeks to terminate my post, my current role has been sent for re banding/matching (why I left in the first place!) and they won't be able to replace me for months, so they are happy to keep me as long as possible and said I can basically tell them when I am leaving (not surprisingly because they are getting me to do higher banded work but not paying me).

Pre employment checks have taken an age but were finally marked as completed on my portal last Weds. Hiring manager was on leave for half term so I rang recruitment team, who said it's a HR task, I emailed HR as I know the task simply needs accepting to proceed on my portal and then they can issue the unconditional letter (I hire as part of my current role so know the recruitment system) - they came back with a generic ish email referring me back to hiring manager. Hiring manager has been in touch today agreeing that all checks done and cc'd an email to HR asking why no unconditional issued. Silence. I have rung, emailed and checked my portal several times and I am becoming increasingly worried that there is something else at play here? There is now a recruitment freeze on at the org...am I just being impatient or has anyone else got experience of things going awry? My Trust is asking when my leaving date is and I can't tell them.

If the hiring anger only emailed them today, give them a chance! I'd wait 48hr max before chasing again. Hope ot all goes well!

I left an NHS job after 2 weeks and now I’m worried that if I get a job offer that they will see this in the pre-employment checks? Does it come up where you have worked before? I’ve got references from other employers which are fine. But I just don’t know if they will know about the 2 week one. Can anyone help? Is anyone familiar with the NHS HR checks?
