On a "support" plan. Feel like death

53, accountant. Employer lost money last year. I'm on a support plan (hollow laugh) and feel like death.

Anyone got news of how their life got better?

I now realise we are all just one bad meeting away from mental health problems

How are you doing OP any better ? It’s not nice to be blamed for things when so conscientious.
it’s just a job you have a family who love you more than some and that’s all that truly matters at the end of the day. Don’t rule out private practice work. Good luck

Update. I agreed a a settlement agreement and have one day left.

Sleeping better now.

If you are being scapegoated you need to lodge a complaint with HR and document everything.

The best outcome would be for you to get a good financial settlement at this stage.

Also if you are no longer functioning because of the bullying, don't allow that to continue and get your GP to sign you off. You don't want to have a breakdown because of this.

I’m glad to hear that @topcat2014 life is too short - I hope for better things to happen this year for you after this.

Whilst I don't currently have a job - it is strangely liberating to be free of any obligations to anyone with regard to work. I'm sleeping the best I have for years.

Taking another week off - then looking for temping work, in addition to hoping one of my applications for permanent work leads to something.

This happens in teaching a lot. An experienced, diligent teacher in their mid 50’s all of a sudden appears to be failing at their job and are put on some sort of informal support plan.

These plans are often very woolly and senior leaders claim they have to meet certain targets that they were achieving perfectly well before.
Teacher goes off sick and then ends up resigning!

Teaching role then filled by a younger, cheaper teacher.

As someone who deals fairly frequently with employment lawyers - one specifically told me "no one ever comes back from a PIP". Start looking for a new job ASAP. Largely for your own mental health.

** edit to say I saw late you left, and are doing better. GOOD!!! Hope you are enjoying a non-toxic life.

It’s happening in many jobs isn’t it - people over a certain age being replaced by lower cost resources by whatever method. Glad to hear you’re feeling better @topcat2014 and good luck with the job hunt

If the is Public Sector and their expenditure has exceeded budget id be asking the budget holder how this happened.
Are you in charge of the budget, did you approve the expenditure that lead to the overspend ?
id be asking what other checks are in place to ensure there is no overspend ?
