What do I do if not this?

I work as a teacher in post-16 education. The money is terrible (25-35k for a full time member of staff). I’m part time as I have young children and zero work life balance as it is, so my income is less. I’m so fed up of not having enough money to live the lifestyle I would like to live. I work so hard (for free a lot of the time, such is the workload). I’m seriously contemplating moving into something else purely for the money.

The problem is, I’ve always wanted to teach. It’s been a life long passion and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I have briefly worked in finance type roles in a bank and for the council at one point when I couldn’t find work in education, but I always come back to it. I didn’t earn much in those types of roles either. So, my question is, how can I increase my income? I know there are ways to top up teaching income with exam paper marking and tutoring, but I’m already up to my eyeballs in work and both of those things are time heavy. Is there anything else education related I could do to top up my income? Or does anyone have any ideas as to what job I could switch to to make more money?

I hate the thought of being bored at work and not enjoying my job, but I’m so fed up of not being financially rewarded for the hard work I put in. Everyone around me lives more comfortably than I do and sometimes it’s hard not to feel a bit blue about it. Advice much appreciated.

You could become a trainer for sn organisation. You may not walk in ad k e - but could aim for it. I know my company pay our trainers a starting salary of 35k .

Not wanting to be rude, but why is your salary so low? Dont M1 teachers start at £30k now? Is it different in post 16?

Secondary and primary teachers earn much more - could you not consider switching?

Fulltime upper pay scale staff are on £49k now with the recent pay rise.

I’m afraid it’s different in FE. There’s no standardised pay scheme. It’s extremely unfair and there is a huge retention and recruitment crisis because of it (amongst other things). I have contemplated switching to schools, but I really do prefer working with older students. I would consider working for a training organisation, although I think a lot pay quite poorly too.
