Messed my NHS interview up

I had a really important interview on Friday for a Band 5 nursing job at a top NHS trust. I’ve been out of practice since 2023 but did feel I prepared well for my clinical skills section of the interview. However on the day all went well except that section and nerves got the better of me talking a scenario through and I know I gave a wrong reply at the end. It wasn’t until I walked out of the hospital that I realised. I feel sick as I really want to work for this company. I just need some stories of hope! I feel I came across very well and I was the only candidate there wearing a suit to the point where a staff asked me if I worked there already! There were so many people there interviewing but only 5 positions.

Just for future info- a lot of places will now send you the interview questions in advance if you request. Interviews shouldn't be there to "test" you but to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and skill.

They are far and few between at the moment for the speciality I’m in! I think that’s why I’m super anxious but also they sound very supportive with a very good staff retention rate

It will be points based, so it will come down to how well you did in the rest of it compared to others. I had an NHS interview once and one question they asked about a review that I hadn't read, so couldn't answer the whole question. I still got the job, as I scored well enough on the other questions and the written test. Good luck!

@GEECI I wouldn't hang everything on finding out tomorrow, Friday to Monday to make a decision seems way too tight turn around. I reckon it will be Tuesday or even Wednesday.

You never know. I've had interviews where I've not known the answer and got the job.
I'd be researching job vacancies today firstly for some distraction and secondly to know that there are other opportunities just in case!
Which hopefully isn't the case

Good luck. If the rest went fine try not to worry too much about one part. You'd expect that they would take a holistic approach to how they day went overall.

If you did well at the rest and presented yourself well you absolutely might still get it, it's so easy to focus on the one thing you did wrong in an interview and agonise over it, but don't forget you did lots right too!

I missed the call yesterday because I was in the middle of a clinic. I hope they would call me again today - the number was hidden so can’t call back
