When HR are partly the issue

Am being performance managed (don’t agree as never had any issue before). My boss keeps saying go speak to HR as they agree with me! When I’ve spoken to HR they keep saying they are impartial yet my boss shared ‘feedback’ from HR about me that sounded like idle gossip as I’ve spoken to this person once. It is making me reluctant to trust HR at all! Have you experienced this and what did you do!

You raise a formal grievance, resign and find a new job where you're not surrounded by toxic and biased help

HR are not impartial. They are employed by the organisation. So they do not have your back.

ACAS might be a good starting place.

HR are not there for you, they are there are there to protect the organisation. If you are on a PIP I would be looking to get out of there asap.

I'd address this directly with the HR person regarding what they have allegedly said.

HR are there for the company and not the individual.

As others have said, HR are there for the business, not for you. But this doesn't make a lot of sense anyway. Why would your boss say that they agree that you shouldn't be performance managed? Because they don't know anything about your performance anyway - that is a matter for your boss. And there is no reason for you to "agree" to be performance managed - your manager determines this, and just because you haven't had an issue in the past doesn't mean there isn't one now. It's really not at all clear what is going on.

I think you need to leave. If your boss has put you on a PIP and you don't agree you need it, it's likely you'll be leaving anyway - probably better to do it on your terms.
