Leaving and told to recruit replacement

Having finally decided to jump ship from my toxic employer they have asked me to prioritise in my final 3 months recruiting my own replacement and to do the business case for that too . I think this massively takes the piss as the reason I am leaving is because they refused to commit to confirming my role had a future and now they expect me to justify on their behalf why in fact it is sorely needed and pronto. If I am going to do this I want to enjoy it please can you help me with some immature choice additions to the ‘business case’ ?

No point playing silly buggers, just do the business case. Have you got a new job lined up? Depending on what industry I believe the phrase 'never shit on your own doorstep' is very applicable. Certainly is in mine.

Think it's fairly standard for you to be involved unless you're being sacked for a disciplinary etc unfortunately! Ive written job descriptions, interview q's and been actively involved in the recruitment decisions for my mat leave covers and when ive moved role/organisation.

I would not put anything daft in. I’d just make it extremely short.

“This role is business critical to complete the following tasks which cannot be reallocated to other teams or employees…”

and then paste the job description below.

Then click send.

When it comes back with comments, make the bare minimum adjustments and send it straight back.

Its pretty normal to have to replace yourself in a role. It sounds like they might have been managing you out in which case you are best off out of it!

good luck with your new job

Thanks all . It seemed a cheeky ask but interesting to hear it is common practice . Yes I have another role in a different industry .
