New job offer - unsure on what to do!

I have a one year old and returned to work on the current part time work pattern:

Monday - 8-4.15pm
Tuesday - off
Wednesday - 8.30-6pm
Thursday - 8-4.15pm
Friday - 8.30-6

I’m paid £37k for the above hours.

Ive been offered a role at £52k to start working full time again Monday - Friday (9.30am - 5pm). We will have to pay for childcare on a Tuesday as I’d be working but the salary is quite an increase.

what would you do? Feeling a bit stuck as I enjoy the time off with my baby but would benefit from the increase in money.

The employee benefits are better at the company offering higher money . They’re a larger scale business.

@CantHoldMeDown yes it’s a 30 min lunch break on the shorter days, 1hr longer days and an hour at the new place. So for the money I’d receive at the new place, I’d be getting a lot more for the hours worked?

That’s true.. and I’ve been with my current company for 3 years so have my feet under the table so to speak

Is 4 days not an option in the new role?

Happierthaneverr · 24/01/2025 18:55

How flexible will the new job be and how flexible is your current job? To be honest unless you have any concerns about their flexibility or your fit I’d take it.

MissDutch · 24/01/2025 19:32

@ThatsNotMyTeen no, four days isn’t an option so we’d have to pay for more childcare. My current job is WFH one day a week and the new one is WFH one day a week (as opposed to two). It’s really the money that I’m finding attractive at the moment. I’ve struggled losing the money by cutting a day a week.

my current company are a smaller business and the flexibility is what they’re giving me now, as this is what was offered when I returned.

im not sure how flexible the new one will be but they’ve said 4 days a week in office which could potentially end up being 3.
