I turn 40 this September and have always wanted to be a nurse. I’ve always put the kids first working in a school so I’m always available for them. My local university has introduced a new part time nursing degree aimed at people with life experience. The hrs ar within school times with all half terms off.

sounds perfect right! but what is the work load like? Is it really hard and does anyone have experience with what bursary’s I’d be entitled to. Diolch/ thank you 😊

I think that you probably have to consider that whilst the coursework side of things might be term time only, when you are doing your practical side and working long shifts in hospitals, this may not necessarily be the case. I am a nurse and of course I think it is a wonderful vocation, but I would probably consider perhaps either doing some voluntary work or even gaining some experience as a clinical support worker to see what it’s actually like. I have no idea what the course is like now as I trained almost 20years ago but it’s not for the faint hearted!
That said, if it’s your passion then 40 is not too old, I’ve known plenty of mature students along the way and life experience goes a long way. Good luck!
