Does anyone work in rehab/secure care?

Hi, thanks in advance for your time. I'm looking for some advice if possible.

I've been working as a HCA in general nursing for 10 years and have received a job offer in rehab in secure care.

I do feel a little apprehensive about it and I'm just wondering if anyone currently does this job and enjoys it? Is rehab a relatively safe area to work in?

If anyone could give an insight to a typical day in rehab it would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Thank you. 🙏

As there haven’t been any replies so far I thought I’d pitch in: I know someone who’s currently in rehab on an all male facility and if you’re worried in terms of personal safety, in the 9 months he’s been there nothing has happened.

At most some frustrated shouting or a more tense back and forth every now and then. The ones who boil over tend to leave or be made to leave if they show any threatening behaviour.

I work in secure forensic units.
It's very rewarding
It's good but you must never become complacent and always aware of your surroundings ie positioning and the risks to yourself ie if patients are assessed as showing sexual violence to women you should never be alone

You have to be prepared to accept the risk you maybe assaulted and sometimes that comes completely unexpected- a colleague last year was seriously attacked.
You have to be accepting that around patients you should never share personal details.

My sister works in a mental health secure ward and is off for a number of weeks after being injured in an attack. She says there are incidents fairly often but this is the first time she has needed hospital treatment. She has worked there for many years.
