When did you know new job wasn't right?!

Please be kind, I'm really struggling with my new job and it's affecting my mental health. Only 4 months in, but it is really pressured and more than what they described in the interview. It's a new role too, but they aren't listening to my feedback so nothing will be changed.
Feel so disappointed.

I hate it! It's making me so anxious all the time and am dreading Monday already.

Has anyone left within their probation period? Did you find something quickly to go to?

Thanks so much everyone, it helps so much to read your comments.

I have got 3 interviews lined up, after applying for anything and everything last week!

How's the best way to explain why I'm leaving my current job after 4 months? Say its only a temporary contract? Not want it to look bad on me!

That's great.

I would be roughly honest rather than claim it's a different type of contract.

If the job is materially different to what was advertised then I think it's fine to move on and say so. If you have a fairly solid CV they've no reason to believe you didn't give it a good go.

Take a polite approach and say what went well but I think it's fine to say 'job was advertised as XX. Over the next few months it became apparent it involved more YY duties . I learnt ZZ and worked on WW project so have amassed some useful skills. I spoke to management to see whether a compromise could be reached in terms of the JD and actual duties required . However, on careful thought I would prefer to find a role that develops my XX skills'

In a very similar situation and this could be a post I wrote 🤯

Yep me! - I am a strong believer that probationary periods are both for employer and the employee to see if it works for both of them.

I handed in my notice just before the end of my probationary period with the intention of having the rest of the summer off (its been crazy hours and very stressful!!) however dream job came up and I applied and start there next month. No issues with why I was leaving - just said not a great match, not what I was expecting and better to move on - I actually think employers like the fact you can make that hard decision.

Life is too short to be miserable and work life balance is important you spend a lot of time there if you are waking up in the morning going "oh no" you are in the wrong job 😀Best of luck finding something you love x

Thankfully I was offered one of the jobs from the interview, so handed in my notice only having to give 1 weeks notice!

It was the best thing I ever did! I started my new job a few weeks ago and it seems a much better fit so far! Much less stress and a really nice team.

Life is definitely too short to be unhappy. So my advice would be to go for it. I was ready to do anything, it was making me ill which looking back now is so sad. Good luck!

So glad I’ve seen this post! This is me right now, I was made redundant in September and started my new job at the start of Jan. The whole onboarding process was a full scale joke, training awful, manager is new herself but is inexperienced and managers like she’s in a call centre - team dysfunctional and department toxic. I knew from the first week it wouldn’t ever work, but ploughed through and three months in I still hate it. I feel anxious every day. I just want to leave 😳 I don’t know if I should just take the risk and leave without a job, or just try and find something while in a job. I struggle with job hunting while I’m working as I’m too busy during the day.
