Evening all,

I've applied for a part time job and when the salary was being discussed (at a public meeting) it was mentioned as 47 weeks x 20 hours x hourly rate and that gave them the annual salary.

Holiday pay is statutory isn't it? So they have to pay for 52 weeks and you get 5.6 weeks off. They haven't short listed yet so I don't know if I've got an interview.

Years ago I worked a casual job that paid rolled up holiday pay instead but that certainly wasn't mentioned for this role.

Is it in a school? I'm thinking maybe you'd be working 42 weeks, then 5 weeks holiday (which pro-rata'd would be enough - ish!)

Or is it a role where you would be working 47 weeks?

No, not in a school or employed term time.

It's a local community council, they only have one employee and the other roles are voluntary. No shut down period over Christmas / Summer either.

Statutory is 28 days for a full time worker but that includes bank holidays.

Definitely ask how it works if you make it as far as an interview then. I'd assume they've messed up the calculation.
