DWP & Employment Tribunal

I would like to hear from anyone who has resigned from DWP during their training period. I did that back in June and this is the note I ended up sending to my local MP. (Hastings & Rye)

"Further to your automated response I can say that my issue is an Employment Tribunal claim I have against DWP, Hastings.

It is my hope that you could review the bare bones of a case where DWP have conceded liability, paid the vast majority of my claim and then engaged legal representation to retain an alleged overpayment and employee pension contributions.

I hold written communication from DWP that they had written off the alleged overpayment and written advice from ACAS that employee pension contributions should be returned.

The amount of money in dispute is slightly less than £400.00

The lawyers engaged by DWP are TLT (Bristol) and their website advises that their fees to represent a client at Employment Tribunal are in the £11,000.00 to £20,000.00 range. Link to relevant webpage is here; https://www.tlt.com/about-us/resourcing-and-pricing/employment-tribunals-business-pricing-service/

This does not take into account the time and money that DWP have spent on this matter before instructing TLT.

I am both an enraged ex-employee and a concerned taxpayer and I am not asking you for legal advice or partisan support, but I think that you should be aware of the appallingly expensive lengths your local DWP office have gone to."

The DWP used to act as a 'dumping ground' fir staff who had been subject to disciplinary action.

Someone I know used to work for them and said that the staff were demoralised.

Sounds par for the course sadly
