Can anyone help.
I have been given a sick note for fractured ribs and a chest infection!. The school is short staffed if I an able to go back next week but ask for reduced hours will I get paid full pay ir just what I work. If I feel a bit better I don't mind trying to go in but if I lose pay because of it I am mot sure I would want.
Does anyone know

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be permitted to have you back at my work, I think someone would get twitchy about our liability of having you on the premises when signed off sick.

The length of time on a sick note is an educated guesstimate, you can generally return sooner if you recovered quicker. I don’t know about working part-time and being paid in full.

That's what I am worried about . I would try snd go and help but right now I don't think I could manage a full day but if I go in snd loose money that's what I am worried about

I don’t think you can use a sick note to cover part-time hours. You’re either fit to work or not. You could maybe agree a phased return, which would be reduced hours on your usual pay, but that’s only for a couple of weeks usually. Where I work, further reduction in hours would have to be taken as annual leave or be unpaid.

All that aside though, your doctor has deemed you unfit to work and you also don’t think you’re fit to work your usual hours. So it sounds like you should be off sick at the moment. I get feeling bad when it puts your colleagues under pressure, but it isn’t your fault you’re unwell and staffing levels aren’t really your problem. I wouldnt risk lengthening your recovery or losing out financially due to guilt.

Thank you I think you are right.
