Conclusion to Constructive Dismissal Case

Hi

I just wanted to update you on my case. I have finally received compensation from my ex-employers, after filing a Constructive Dismissal/Sex Discrimination Case last November.

I certainly have no regrets, although the whole process was very stressful. This experience has helped me to become a stronger person.

I had some great advice from Mums on Mumsnet, in particular Flowerybeanbag. Flowery is an absolute star, and was always there to offer friendly advice. I could not have done this without her help and support. If any other Mumsnetter falls into a similar situation please take Flowery's advice, she knows what she is talking about and is a very good listener.

I hope no other Mum finds herself in the same position as I did. But if you do, and you have the willpower don't let awful employers get away with it. They will only treat some other Mum the same way.

Well done. It must be a huge relief that it is over but very empowering too.

Miaou · 05/05/2008 08:11

That's great news Moonlit, glad it worked for you. Now you can put the whole thing behind you and move on with your life

Hi Moonlit, I'm so pleased you're all sorted and thanks for the compliments!

Good to hear you're feeling stronger, I am sure you are feeling some closure now and can focus on moving forward.

Flowerybeanbag is fabulous - someone who (like Freckle) really adds a lot to this site!

I'm glad you got it settled and that it might prevent some other person being treated badly!

Moonlit,
Well done , it must have been tough, but absolutely worth it.

madamez · 06/05/2008 23:39

COuld we possibly have a link to a thread outlining what happened? Just because you mention that whatever was done to you might be done to other mums and it's worth knowing how to deal with it.
Thanks.

Moonlit's story Well done to you Moonlit and no surprise you got great advice from the No 1 Beanbag

Just read that thread, and it ended with you negotiating with your former employer and sacking your solicitor.

So what happened? Did it go to tribunal after all?

Moonlit · 07/05/2008 01:13

Hi NoBiggy

ACAS act as intermediates and are free. The person from ACAS assigned to my case was wonderful.

The only thing my solicitor was good for was calculating my compensation. But to tell you the truth, I did most of that myself. Also, she got very worried when she realised, my ex-employers corporate lawyers were one of the top ten Solicitors in London.

The case never went to a tribunal because I accepted a tax free lump sum. My ex-employers knew I was right and wanted to get rid of me ASAP. Yes I could have held out for more money. But it wasn't always about the money. It was about justice!

The funny thing is, a friend of mine has told me there has been a complete restructure since I left. The people involved are no longer allowed to manage other people and the company is making people redundant.....KARMA!!!!!

Life is a funny thing, because of what happened I get to spend time with my lovely daughter and we are moving abroad.

I am now helping my husbands best friend through an ET case. His is ten times worse than mine and has affected his health. So I count myself incredibily blessed and lucky to come through this unscathed.

Also, when an application is sent to the ET services, it is SOOOOOOO important to say everything on the form.

Lots of love,

Moonlit xxx

Am absolutely thrilled for you Moonlit, as you know, in the words of the immortal Justin Timberlake(!) "what goes around comes back around".
Brilliant news, all the best in your glorious new future

NoBiggy · 07/05/2008 23:33

I'm glad things have come right, and that the individuals seem to have felt some effect, as well as the company.

Nice one.
