Working hours in a school

Hi - would just like a little input or perspective from others.
I work in a school as a one to one assistant for a child with SEN. A nice easy job. It’s a school where my eldest child attends so it makes morning school runs easier. However, my working hours and pay just seem a little frustrating. The child I work with is only entitled to 15hours of support, therefore I’m paid for 15 hours. However, I’m in work 2 full days, and 2 half days. I don’t get paid for my breaks, so in total I’m in work 20 hours. Not to mention some senior staff members make me work during my breaks, as well as make me in charge of the whole classroom on my own when the teacher isn’t in.. When I’ve got a one year old child at home the hours just don’t seem worth it. Would you be annoyed?
I want to quit as I feel I’m being taken advantage of, however don’t want to make things awkward as it’s a small community school and my child also attends the school.

No point in just being annoyed.

I'd be showing my line manager my work contract and sorting it out.

If that produced no results, I'd go straight to my union rep.

Being in charge of the whole classroom when you're a 121 is not on. How often does that happen? How long for?

What are your actual working hours? How long are your breaks?

What are your contracted hours?

15h of TA time does equal 3 full days a week - 5h a day. If you're covering only his 15h, you should only be expected to be in for that, and not work over your lunch
Eg:
Mon 9am - 3pm (with 1h unpaid lunch)
Tues 9am - 3pm (with 1h unpaid lunch)
Wed 9am - 11.30am (no lunch)
Thur 9am - 11.30am (no lunch)
Most on 15h a week would do 3h per day, either mornings or afternoons (eg 9-12 Mon-Fri, or 12-3). But your school can use the hours as they see fit, if they want 2 half days and 2 full days.

If you are exclusively 1:1 to a pupil and this is stated in their EHCP you should not be responsible for the whole class group or any other pupils during this time. Sure, things happen and the odd minute here or there but the school gets additional funding for you to be 1:1 for that pupil.
