Sickness - rolling

My co. has stated that we can not be off more than 4% of our working days, and that it is rolling. I think this is a new thing and I’m not sure what it means.

FYI I’ve not been off sick for a year, but am wondering what it means.

So am I...

I think it means a rolling year. So if you went off in December it would be Dec-Dec. But if you then went off in Feb then the 12 months wouldn’t end until the following February.

There should be a policy you can read if it is an agreed change.

Thx

OK, so I was off last December for quite a few days as I had bad Covid, caught from my colleagues I reckon. I’ve now got a very nasty cold and was hoping to stay off tomorrow but that’ll mean I’m over my 4% if it’s rolling.

Right?

My co. has a draconian sickness policy.

So if I was ill in Jan, that wouldn’t count as it would be Jan - Jan?

It basically just means that it rolls forward, so your 4% absence ‘allowance’ doesn’t cancel on the 31st Dec to allow you to start anew on 1st Jan.

Cant be off for more than 4% of your working days in what rolling period? Did it say a year or are you guessing.
I find this an odd way to measure it and what will the consequences be?
In my work it goes on periods of absence and 3 periods in the previous 12 months would trigger an "approaching unacceptable levels of absence" meeting and letter. This is regardless of whether each period had 1 day off or 20.

If you are too ill to work dont go in, if the last time you were off was a year ago I can't see how you could face any consequences. Maybe this is aimed at people who are regularly off.

It’s a year rolling.

Some of my colleagues who’ve been off sick a lot didn’t get the annual % increase in salary.
