How to deal with over critical / bullying Boss?

I have written on here before issues with my current job and I am looking to leave (got down to final two for a job last week but didn't get it)

in the meantime my boss is becoming highly critical and sharp with me., she came over to apologise for being sharp proceeded to tell me I'm not going the extra mile so I asked for examples, the examples were ridiculous one was not even to do with me but impossible to really get this women to listen.

a new starter in the team came over to ask if I was ok and said that she is bullying me - everyone eise hss become desensitised as she has form and reputation in the industry for this.

I really need tips to deal with this women with grace before i leave as not sure how long that will be: there is no HR department she is the owner. I kept having to go to the loo crying last week which is not like me I've got a thick skin.

so how do I deal with an over critical boss?

I think you need to leave too. Much easier to cope with if you know you’re going.

Double your efforts to find something else. You could set out in a grievance email all the issues, but it doesn’t sound as though it would lead to any improvement. Do put all efforts into moving on.

I can sympathise... I'm in a similar position.
Leaving is definitely an option, and sounds like you're actively pursing that. Although, it's unlikely to be an immediate solution.

I've slowly come to the realisation that I literally can't do anything to change my boss. It's her issues. Don't get me wrong, I know I "contribute" to the relationship but I'm OK with it being a "her" problem.

I've started to follow some career-coaching / development people on Instagram (I'd do it on LinkedIn were it not that your intereactions are more obvious on other people's feeds!). Kate Waterfall Hill is one I particularly like at the moment.

it's just so intense working with this women - example she wanted me to call someone about a contract I starting writing notes as to what I wouid be asking this person on the phone meantime she is shouting 'no Remmy I said phone them dont email them, phone them phone then right now get on the phone!!!

i said I'm writing questions we want answers too first then I will call.

when she gave these silly examples I really couldn't get a word in edgeways to defend myself - she wasn't prepared for me to ask for examples and came out with rubbish.

a year or so ago she grabbed my arm
out whilst having a go about something I hadn't even done

I have similar mindset that it's her problem and not mine and I am a better person - we are a v small company so hard to hide away from this.

I’m in a similar situation! Just documenting my emails to show her I did take action and accountability for something my manager has prejudged the situation and not seen the whole email chain! Well not just one situation- several! So can’t take anymore so will put a grievance in to see if I can get enhanced severance or a new manager!
