where do people find ultra flexible remote jobs?

Because I need one. Years of admin/cust serve/sales support role. Loads of things going on in my life which means I cannot attend office anymore but will need to find a very flexible role, ideally fully remote. What's the best way to find them? I find linkedin and job search websites are like wading through treacle.

Mine is as you describe and it's just luck, really

I work in insurance, in a cross-country capacity i.e the people I work with are not all in the same office

I'd target industries known for flexible working - customer service and admin is needed across the board so aim for tech/some finance/e-commerce companies (I'm biased, but my role and all of our admin/cust experience roles are very flexible) and companies that are fully remote.

I highly rate 'Welcome To The Jungle' (formally Otta) for this. You can set yourself to fully remote roles and filter by lots of different things. IMO the companies on there are pretty flexible as well (mostly tech companies, but a wide variety of roles).

Civil service? Some parts, maybe all, have a recruitment freeze on, but still worth looking.

Customer and sales support experience is good - look for SaaS companies with a large footprint in North America and satellite offices in EMEA regions. They'll likely not have a large office in the UK but will need staff to cover the EMEA time zones, so will be recruiting remote-first contracts.

eta: A lot of SaaS companies in NA operate on an unlimited paid time off model, which is the kind of ethos you're going to want to look for.

I second insurance Companies

I got mine through ten to two. It's a recruitment agency for people that want to work part-time, job share school hours etc, but skilled jobs such as accountant, solicitor, architect, project manager rather than the usual call centre retail types of jobs you get when you want to work part time.m

Civil service now expect 60% office attendance. They are pretty flexible though.

DS is a civil servant and is sick of people whining about having to be in.

Not ALL roles require 60% office attendance, depends on the contract.

thanks all. some good idea. Part time would be perfect - esp school hours. Thank you @Doggymummar .

It’s very difficult to be fully remote in the CS.

I work for a charity that is pretty much fully remote. Odd travel to headquarters for meetings (not even once a month atm). While searching lots of charity sector jobs seemed remote.

Do you have good attention for detail? I've mentioned this on similar threads before, but an ex-colleague does proof reading. He has a part-time job related to proof reading, I think its a monitor in a research company. He also does proof reading, mainly secondary and university papers and CV's sometimes.

PastaAndProse · 05/12/2024 17:02

I also work for an insurance business, in a governance role. Fully remote as it's a global business, so no advantage to being in the office. Also very flexible in terms of hours, as long as the work gets done.

I’ve just posted a very similar thread as I’m in a very similar position! Curious to where to look for these jobs also? Thanks to the poster who put specific websites I’ll have a look. Like you OP, I find LinkedIn and indeed to be awful to search on!
