Work related stress - help!

I’m 28 weeks pregnant and a primary school teacher. I was sworn and screamed at by a pupil on Thursday who then started throwing things around the room. In July, I was punched in the face by a pupil when 7 weeks pregnant, that pupil was then back in my classroom a week later. I’ve been crying since Friday at the thought of going to work and I’m worried it’s stressful for the baby!

I’ve self certified and gone off sick since Friday but I can’t get a doctors appointment until Monday meaning I’ll be 4 days over the 7 day self certification. What do I do? I really can’t face being in work right now.

GP's can backdate at their own discretion - so if you couldn't get an earlier appointment you need to explain that.

That sounds very challenging.

Are you in a union?
Speak to them first, but if not, then speak to SLT about what behaviour support measures they are putting in place.

You should have a pregnancy risk assessment, which should be updated to reflect the situation and show how they are mitigating risk factors.

But, ultimately, there will be an argument put forward by the school that you are their class teacher…

Don't worry, doctors can backdate the sick note.
Has a risk assessment been done?
Should be done when you told them you were pregnant. What mitigations have been put in place following a risk assessment to protect your baby?

Have you had a pregnancy risk assessment? I would be contacting my union also.
