Teams calls at work

Hi everyone I hope your well. I’m in such a sticky situation.

a colleague came to me last week and had a moan about another colleague. This colleague called me on teams direct. It wasn’t a recorded call or meeting. I advised him to go speak to the other person and it doesn’t need to be a big deal. Now his twisted what I actually said. I’m not very happy because I know I didn’t say anything bad.

i was wondering if I can get a call transcript of this call from teams. Like can my IT or manager get it because if so I’d like to instigate for them to see the actual truth even if it’s just a transcript.🥹 does anyone know or is in IT?

I don't think you can. Not in IT but use Teams daily.

Word to the wise (and from experience!) - any of these kinds of calls, follow it up in an email confirming the content of the discussion. They can challenge it but at least you get your side of it out there first, and it's harder to challenge when it's written down.

Awh thank you. I know I should’ve but because I didn’t want to make a big deal and was like just speak to them it be fine, didn’t think anything of it. But now that colleague is saying Layla said to confront you about it when those ain’t my words. It’s so sad because im not that person. I’m a team leader support and wellbeing officer for the company of 13 years.

I think you might have used your name. If you can’t edit it, MN should be able to help.

I know what you mean - sometimes you just want to keep it lowkey! I'm just an old cynic who's learned the hard way not to trust people.

Make a note now somewhere of what you did actually say while it's still fresh in your mind, even if it never goes anywhere.

Just stick to your guns and insist that you didn't say what she is accusing you of having said. I am sure it will all blow over. These things usually do!

I don’t mind. But thank you 🫶

Depending on your work set up you may be in luck. Microsoft launched an AI add on to their products which includes automatic transcripts of Teams calls. Not sure if it’s standard across all Teams so might be worth checking with IT. My firm introduced it earlier in the year. Handy in some instances but also means you have to be careful on all calls!

DrunkTinkerbell40s · 30/11/2024 08:10

I'm pretty sure you can't. I take minutes in HR hearings and a lot of them are he said/she said. If we could get hold of transcripts we would!
When recording and transcription is turned on, Teams let's both of you know.

I would just say what you said. No one can prove any different.

Said person has thrown you under the bus and made it sound like you've encouraged this confrontation. I certainly would be wary of giving them advice in the future. But if it were me, I'd go to the person in question and explain to them how it was said from your point of view :)

You can’t after the call has finished, another time you could record the call or put the auto transcript on and then save it afterwards but you need to do that while the call is running, it’s not automatically saved anywhere.

Oh really, it’s weird that because a lot of people are saying now. If I could get a transcript of my private conversations that would be perfect.

I don’t think you can get a transcription for a call that’s already happened, you either need to be recording the call or turn the setting on.

Oh I see thank you. I wonder if they can recover chats that been deleted. It would be interesting to see what people say about me being a team leader 🤣
