DD (currently at university) got a job this summer working locally while she was at home for the hols - more or less full time over the summer, but reverts to holiday hours at Christmas etc. She has also just secured a part-time job where she is studying this week.

Would anyone happen to know how this will work tax-wise please? I think I mean in terms of which one would be classed a the 'second' job if that makes sense?

i seem to remember (some years ago now!) when I had one full-time job plus an evening job, I got absolutely hammered on tax on the second job..does this still apply?

TIA

If the second job applies an emergency tax code, overpaid tax can be reclaimed at the end of the tax year.

That's useful info. Thanks.

To be clear overpaid tax can always be reclaimed, not just if an emergency tax code is used.
