coming up to the first review period! Have been job hunting but it’s tough out there. I have a couple of weeks to go. Not sure where I stand as been getting some positive feedback and manager was saying I could be very successful (while asking for her end of year feedback) but also getting pulled up on sometimes how I phrase things. I’ve engaged with the process but I dont feel I deserved any of it. Can they get rid of me after the first review period? It says in our policy there are up to a few other stages and my PIP says I ‘may’ be escalated under the capability policy.
i know one person lost the company loads of money but he seemed to be demoted rather than sacked. My colleague was on the same but went off sick and was let go. I’m just have no clue where I stand.

Normally with a PIP you are given specific areas of focus for improvement.

are you clear on what these are specifically and have you been gathering evidence to show them you're addressing the concerns and how you're doing that?

"how you phrase things"? Is this in written form eg emails/documentation or is it when you're speaking.

in answer to your question as to whether they can terminate your employment after the first review, that wouldn't be fair under ACAS guidelines, they have to give you sufficient time and feedback checkpoints, for you to reasonably be able to evidence improvement according to the criteria they've set. You need to check what their policy and process states, plus the agreed terms of your PIP, which should clearly state how long you're being assessed for, number of checkpoint meetings etc, before they make their decision.

Was given 2 months (spent negotiating it for 2 months until they said that’s it starting now despite it still being a bit subjective ie still up to my manager and their manager if I’ve done enough. had great reviews before then. New manager and I are not the best fit and doesn’t know my area. Still been engaging with the process but there was something I said in a meeting and I got a 12 line documentation email about one minute thing. My manager can’t seem to differentiate something minor over something major.

ive given my manager my feedback so see if they start the criticism again!

terms of PIP said if don’t have consistent improvement it ‘may’ be escalated under HR policy. I don’t have any warnings. Business isnt great but equally many staff are leaving due to feeling unsafe in their job situation.
