Career advice for established career- what are the options

Evening 🥰. I wonder if anyone has experience or knows of routes to get career advice after over 3 decades in work place.
I am I a senior role with a diverse range of experiences but taken a bit of a confidence knock and in a bit of a toxic environment.
Been with my current employer for over 10 years so not sure what my options might be or what I could consider with my experience etc.
Any advice or suggestions welcome. Thank you

Would you consider coaching, you might be able to find opportunities through your career network. It would help to rebuild your confidence and get clarity on your next move. The Squiggly Career book is very good.

Thank you, I will check that book out. I tried coaching but found it a total waste of time. The coach was not very inspiring and didn’t really tell me anything I didn’t know. Maybe it is because I am in a more senior role, so need to get advice on moves at that level…..though I am not against a sideways move etc

Similar boat reply but I’d start by looking at LinkedIn (or if you want same industry wherever your industry favours) and just start by favouriting thing that look interesting. Nosy at skme peoples profiles and job histories and see what jobs sound either interesting or unknown. Any companies that seem interesting - why? Spend a good few hours browsing around and thinking about what you’re being drawn to, not in a woo way but as a way to give yourself some guidance in a non pressured way

If you gave us an idea of what sector/role you are in- it would obviously help with advice! There might be some, niche career advisors, but the vast majority of recruiters/supports/advisors, even within my exact role/sector, have no clue IME!

Are you looking to change careers or just change companies?

PonderThus · 29/10/2024 19:45

In an ideal world I would like to stay in company, but think I should not limit myself. It’s confidence holding me back.
I’ve had a varied career; starting in frontline services, moving to strategic projects and UX/service design and currently across AI ( leadership not technical)

It’s confidence holding me back. Is this new? Are you peri or menopausal? Are you have any treatment if applicable?

PonderThus · 29/10/2024 20:25

I am in a medically induced menopause, yes.
